After over a year of waiting, we can now check the previous year's predictions. Discuss HERE only 2009/2010's predictions, be it your own or others and whether they were right or wrong.

Forum Predictions:-
There will be over 2,500 members on the forums, but only 50 new ones will become regulars.
500 members off
I will have over 550 posts.
Another failure, I was 130-odd posts off.
1 of the current "noob mods" will be released and be quite a big hit.

The staff won't change, and none of them will leave.
Finally one correct prediction
MBA will get back off the ground and will be worked on.

I will be here still, but I'll be less interested in it.

- I will finally beat Matan in an MBO match.

Never happened...

- MBO will finally get updated with some new marbles/multiplayer maps.

Couldn't have been more wrong about this, as IA was shut down completely.

- I will get into the top 5 in the upcoming LotY, possibly even winning.

This one came true, as Instinct came in 2nd in LotY 2009.

- The forums will reach 2,000 members.

- I will start making custom marbles.

Never happened.

- I will finish up and release the MBO/U conversions pack and ADatL, plus make and release 2-3 more levels. At least one of these will win LotM.

Both projects were released, but that was all for custom levels from me in 2010.

- MBA will be released. It will be successful, though not quite as successful as MBP.

- Someone who is currently not a staff member will join the Junior Council or be a moderator.

Nope.

- A new member will join who will be just as good as Matan and Xelna, and will break many WRs.

- Me and Marblefire will be Council members. Oaky will have been kicked off the Junior Council.

Neither of these happened.

- I will be in my junior year in college.

So, spot on a lot of stuff, a little further off on some of the forum stats predictions because I didn't account for the official Marble Blast Forum Recession (Oh, it's real, trust me).

Likely:
I will have at least 4 MBG World Records (currently 2), not counting ties to 2nd or 3rd decimal place. Space Slide, Gauntlet, Skyscraper (existing), To the Moon
I will have at least 2 MBP World Records (currently 0), not counting ties to 2nd or 3rd decimal place. Marble Mini Golf, Take a Stroll..., Floor Climb, Divergence, Daedal Helix, Diamond Seeking Fun!, Battlecube Revisited, Frictional Battlecube… oh wow so many
I will find at least 3 new WR paths for MBP. Really depends on your cutoff for how big a tweak has to be for it to be a "path"… Let's Roll!, Marble Mini Golf, Frictional Battlecube
My MBG total time will go below 1087.50 seconds (currently 1184.93). 1048.09!
I will be able to complete all MBP advanced levels and 75% of expert levels (95% total). Didn't get either, in Advanced I still can't do Thief and Morph (maybe another one)
I will have 75% of MBP levels in Platinum Time. 102/120 = 85%
I will have 50% of MBP levels in Ultimate Time. 98/120 = 82%
I will get Tightrope in Gold Time, the only MBG level I do not have Gold Time on. Yes I finally did!
I will be able to do successful traplaunches for Battlements and Tower Maze in addition to the other MBG traplaunch levels (which I can already do). I can do neither.
The Marble Blast Platinum World Record Rampage 2 will be released on SDA in Q4 2010 (YouTube sometime after) and will be a big hit among the Marble Blast community. Actually September, so I was off on the time

Somewhat likely:
I will get sub-8.50 on Survival of the Fittest. Nowhere near close, 9.48 and that was a lucky run after hours of fails with interspersed four-digit times…
I will get sub-9.00 on Gauntlet. 8.96 WOOHOO!
I will get sub-35 on Tightrope. Didn't get this either, 37.57

I remember hesitating on putting down the "sub-9.00 on Gauntlet," as I didn't think I'd be able to make it. Funny how the prediction I thought was least likely to happen out of the three ended up the only one to become true…

Predictions (Other):

Apple will release the long-rumored tablet. iPad!
It will run iPhone OS or something similar (instead of Mac OS X). On the Mac forums, I was a big proponent of the very likely chance of this happening, and it turned out true (not exactly as I thought, but closer than many other predictions)
The iPod touch will get a camera. Yes
Apple will give some detail about their next version of Mac OS X. 10.7 Lion "Back to the Mac"
Intel will not release any consumer CPUs based on the "Sandy Bridge" microarchitecture yet, but will reveal high-resolution die pictures for at least two variants with differing core counts (including the 4-core mainstream variant (which already has a low-res die picture leaked)). There are some variants shipping but none are officially released yet
AMD will reveal a high-resolution die picture of a CPU based on the "Bulldozer" core (preferably the 8 module (16 core) high-end server variant), a CPU based on the "Bobcat" core, and an APU processor based on the "Fusion" technology (which may include "Bulldozer" cores). They released a blurred and photoshopped die shot of 8-core Bulldozer to hide important parts of the core. They released an Ontario APU (Bobcat + GPU) die shot but it was nowhere near high-resolution (plus the layer they used for the die shot sucked).
We will know all the variants of "Sandy Bridge" and "Bulldozer" CPUs for initial launch. Yes on both counts

Predictions (Personal):

I will get at least 1 new friend. 2-3
When I look back at the last year, I will consider it one of my better years.

I'll go against convention by bolding my predictions rather than my answers.

-Staff will stay mostly as it is now; we may have a few new Council or JC members
Correct.

-I will finally overtake Matan in post count
Almost. It's not that important to me.

-I will keep running LotM
Yes, but LotM sucks now and is stopping. People can rate levels in the threads where they are released.

-The LCs will keep sputtering on, with not many participants
They were canceled, but we had PQ level comps which were a great success.

-I will maybe make a few custom levels, but most of my output will be confined to MBP 1.50 (that's the only name that's been released so far)
The name that I came up with, PlatinumQuest, was announced to major rejoicing. A trailer was greeted similarly. I haven't released any new custom levels, but I've made many levels for PQ, and have many more to go. Some of my PQ levels are epic to a degree I could not have believed a year ago.

-MBA will be released; it will be popular, but with lots of lost potential
It's so sad that MBA was abandoned. It really wasn't popular at all. We had just a few custom levels made for it.

-MB9 will die very soon now that Ollie is banned
Yes, and many more noob mods died exactly as I said they would. It's a shame that so much effort is wasted in this futile manner. Here are some that died the past year:

That is correct. MBOpal started in September.

- Forum management MAY stay the same, at best Aayrl and Marblefire get changed in ranks.
Correct, but MF/Aayrl didn't change

- Activity of the forums will increase, none of the forum staff and/or oldies will leave (unless an accident occurs).
Activity increase? not sure. Members per day did increase, and we do get more people now, but new threads/replies? probably. Forum staff didn't leave and neither did some of the oldies, unless I'm mistaken. Got it right otherwise.


Marble Blast:

- Excitement over "1.50" gets increased, with trailers and screenshots stunning the community.
We did release 1 trailer and 2 screenshots and people are excited. "1.50" is now known as PQ.

- IA updates MBO, or something at least happens about it.
MBO wasn't updated, but something DID happen about it: it was closed/shut down as did IA.com as a whole! So I guess I got it half-right!

- MBA/MBF release.

Myself:

- Successfully finish first year of Master of Biotechnology with every single subject reaching 80 points or more (High Distinction)
Finished yes, but not as good as I hoped. In fact, due to missing out on a super basic subject which was meant to be in Sem 1 and not 3, I lost a lot of points and thus didn't get the score I wanted.

- Become inactive in Marble Blast (except Project 1.50) most of the time so that the above thing can occur
I gradually became more inactive, but always was here. There were points with higher activity but for the past few months it's been sporadic. With PQ (ex-1.50) I was active and now picking up again. The above thing didn't occur

- The visit from my sister and her family is gonna be epic awesome

I was extremely safe in my predictions, so It's not too much of a surprise that I got a lot of them right, and some were underestimates

I'm pretty sure this year will be much of the same as last year. I'm not gonna leave forever (will I ever? ), but I probably won't do anything noteworthy. I must throw it out there again though that there's STILL like a 3% chance that I'll make something cool in the summer, but like I said it's extremely doubtfull.
Yeah, basically. No levels: predictable. 'Nuff said.

I'll probably have less than 1800 posts by next year.

Mostly right. Announcement of PQ was quite amazing, but it didn't technically happen.

This year I'll be a sophomore, then a junior in high school, and I already have my driver's license, so I don't think anything amazing will happen to me either. I think we'll be going back to Florida in the summer though, possibly Cedar Point (Pablo made me really want to go ), and most likely back to our cabin in Minnesota (we've got a flush toilet now!!!!!).
Yep, there's been a serious lack of "amazingness" this year. We did make it to Minnesota with the (alright, it WAS amazing) flush toilet, and we did go to Florida, but we never went to Cedar Point

It seems MBO users have REALLY dropped off from 6 months ago or so, and I don't see the number going back up significantly unless IA does something cool, which they haven't yet. So I predict IA to release a few new games and hopefully a couple game/site updates in the next year.
Oh yeah, and IA will FINALLY get full Snow Leopard support, so even Safari will work with it in 64-bit mode.
Um, well IA activity never increased before it was shut down, so that was accurate.
They DID release a few new games (Monkey Island and that Jam thing), but they were both non-IA-Arcade games and I never played them. And, in a positive note, they TRIED to "update" the site, but obviously that didn't work as planned.
And naturally, the poor Mac support never improved before IA shut down. Figures.

I don't really see these forums getting a whole lot more active. I'm gonna be safe and say there'll be 2,000-2,500 members (if I get this wrong then that's sad), and most of the activity will be by the newer guys, but the staff/older guys'll still have a large presence.
I'd say very accurate, although again it's not too much of a stretch to have predicted this. Most of the posts I see nowadays are from newer guys, but naturally also there's not a lack of vet posts. And since I gave myself a HUGE window for members, I got that right nicely.

I was epiclymongously wrong... Thanks to the MBP WR Rampage thread that gave me 100+ posts alone.


I will still hold 75 WRs or more in MBG (currently 79). (50%)

I lost 6 MBG WRs during 2010. I'm now down to 73 (Pipe Dreams, Gauntlet, Space Slide, Time Trial, Gyrocopter & King of the Mountain)


My WRs on Pinball Wizard, Eye of the Storm, Battlements, Mine Field, Marbletris, Ramp Matrix and Skate Park won't be beaten. (80%)

I was right. Well, Eye of the Storm got beaten by Asuul714 (3.2x) but I got it back the same day with 2.66 so...


I will retire from Marble Blast somewhere in July or August 2010, after near 5 years of playing. (70%)

I didn't retire thanks to the MBP WR Rampage who kept me alive... as well as the 1st spot in the General Ranking Leaderboard Dushine and I have been fighting for since so long.


Dushine will pass me on the MBP Leaderboards and will stay ahead of me for at least more than 1 month. (75%)

He didn't pass me even if the Leaderboards say he's in 1st spot. My time got glitched over 16:59.99 as my first finish on Space Station and now I can't improve my rating... 'cause it says I have 00:00.00 wow...


I will go to a casino with 20$ and leave with 500$. (5%)
