Ok, the GUI seems easier than I thought the moment you learn to copy Anyway, I was able to make a new expert tab (5th tab!) but I'll make some textures to test on it. I changed Custom to be Expert and my new custom (5th tab) is now under testing. This is getting quite interesting!

I just had an idea of how we could re-arrange the level select menu so it didn't look as much like the original. I just thought of it, so I don't know if it's any good or not. Here's a pic of a rough copy I made in Flash: Is it any good?

Nice, I like it. It's creative and different, which sets it apart from MBG.
What do you think, Matan?

This son of a bi... oh yea, there're kids here, sorry.
Anyway, I didn't get anywhere far. Yes, I did create the expert tab but no I didn't manage to get it to stay forever I'm getting Alex for the rescue.
I can set the menu to any size we want the moment I get to understand the GUI. So anything can go in.

Yeah, you just switch the old graphic with the new one, and position them to look right in the GUI editor. No clue about the new tab, though... I can't even add a new object in the editor, that was my only problem with the 5th tab.

Matan, you didn't need to change the custom tab to expert considering we are re-arranging the entire screen and layout. And, it seems like it would look weird with expert like that anyways.
Lonestar, I don't know about the others, but to me that still seems a lot like the layout of marbleblast gold. I was thinking something a bit more unique. Any ideas anyone?

Well, it's just a rough draft. We can re-arrange things a little more, maybe make the tabs buttons or something. I could think of something better, too, cause this one was just an idea.

Here's my version. Obviously the background image will change.

That looks pretty sweet technostick!
Now that's what I am talking about!
But maybe also have a scoreboard below that and some buttons that start a demo recording and/or open the level editor?
Also in the box it could say if you found the easter egg or not.

Wait... MBP won't have custom levels.. will it?

It does!

Should we make it so you can only use the editor in the "custom" tab? So people can't cheat, especially with Easter Eggs.

Yeah, and we were thinking of changing the thing you type in to access the editor, right matan? Or so I thought if not.

How about 'Special' levels will go in the custom tab? (like MarbleRally!) Or we can make it so if you get a special level, it makes a new tab I don't think that people should make custom levels in MBP because they can use our major work and put it in MBG

Well, we have some probs: 1) PF: Possible, but there're some codes to change and I don't like it because some are in the DSO (ffs) so I'm not gonna do it. 2) We can change the game to have our own .ogg filenames (MBPShell.ogg for example). Dunno how to get it in 4+ songs. Will look to it. 3) Lonestar: no. 4) We cannot remove the Skip Level (can't get GUI to work ) 5) No Custom Tabs until we know how to control GUI (probably never :/). I think we'll have to settle with what we have OR move expert levels to be in the Advanced folder (except it looks shit then ) and then have Custom lvls in the 'Expert' tab (which is really Custom). Current Multiplayer levels such as whatever and special lvls such as MarbleRally will be put in beginner/intermediate/advanced/expert tabs, depending on difficulty. First things first people, let's finish what we have to do. IAN FUCKING FIX LEVELS, i'll go quarking for a while (TUFC/SA) and then finish off my own levels and other stuff. LET'S ROLL, PEOPLE!

Why don't we just make a separate tab for multiplayer?
|
|
|
Post by Lonestar on Apr 23, 2007 23:59:56 GMT
Cause Multiplayer's too big of a mod... do you mean Expert? If so, that's what we are doing.
About getting GUI to work, I might be able to get MBP into Torque and use it's much-more-advanced tools to get a 5th tab. There are some excellent GUI tutorials on the TDN, too.

Don't we still need to do sound effects mods, new textures and stuff?

Our main priority is levels. Phil is taking care of music, I still got a bit of sounds to do and then we can ask others (Beau) to make up some good sounds unless Phil wants to do it. Once we did levels, we can worry about the rest.

I've done a nice cartoon Easter Egg sound (it's actually a royalty-free sound) but it sounds good when I collect it I'll put up the sound and code this afternoon (well just what code you need)

How much of this is done? Is there a 5th tab?
|
|
|
Post by IsraeliRD on May 6, 2007 21:34:22 GMT
I can do the 5th tab anytime, problems are:
1) No one gives me a custom tab image 2) No one designed a new level menu sketch so the old one stays.

Just stick the expert tab on the bottom. (for now) I'll upload my expert tab to (some place that doesn't exist anymore and shouldn't worry you but you still don't need to know it). EDIT: lol, it is on (some place that doesn't exist anymore and shouldn't worry you but you still don't need to know it)! Lonestar/textures.
