Hi.
Loooooooooooooong time since I've made a blog post.
Well, so much has happened and all from then till now, but I'll just talk about today. Just so I can have something new up.
Well today (well well well well... well? :P) was a relatively uneventful day. Got up. Morning routine. I attempted to practice viola this morning however. I got in like 10 minutes, didn't do much. I knew I'd have to perform my Solo and Ensemble solo (no idea how well known this is. I'll assume virtually no one knows what it is. It's just like this competition thing for music. Someone else can explain better if they know) for my technique group just 'cause my orchestra teacher wanted us to. And right now I SUCK at it. Yeah. Enough said about that...
I had orchestra, PE, then I had to miss Spanish for technique class. Ew. I performed and I played EXACTLY how I predicted. It wasn't as bad as if I was sight-reading, but it wasn't as good as I SHOULD have been. Then I had a history test. Easy (I think) yet not as easy as the last one. I thought Andrew Johnson's vice-president was Ulysses S. Grant, but he didn't have one. It was an extra credit question though. English, boring, just checked a packet on gerunds. Easy stuff there. Next we discussed and acted out (or rather monotonously recited) Hamlet. Wow, I thought I had annotated pretty good, but apparently not. I miss so much stuff. Spending 39 minutes discussing and reading the section really helps though. (by the way, I could start ranting about my english/reading teacher right now on how good yet bad she is, but I guess that can be later...). Lunch. Uneventful. Math, finished math test from yesterday. I'm still not sure whether I like Algebra or Geometry more. I think I'd go with Algebra 'cause Geometry is more logic stuff (OMG, I HATE PROOFS!!). Anyways, now's when I get to show you all my beastly Law of Cosines program I created on my TI-83+ :P
Heh, took me about 2 hours to make after editing it over and over and over. It takes forever making stuff on the calculator, that screen is just too small and not enough characters can fit on one screen.
PROGRAM:LAWOFCOS
:Lbl 0
:Menu("You know...","3 Sides",3,"2 Sides+ Angle",2,"Info/Help",I)
:Lbl 3
:Input "a=",X
:Input "b=",Y
:Input "c=",Z
:Lbl M
:cos-1((X2-Y2-Z2)/(-(2YZ)))→A
:cos-1((Y2-X2-Z2)/(-(2XZ)))→B
:If M=1.35481
:Goto E
:cos-1((Z2-X2-Y2)/(-(2XY)))→C
:Disp "A=",A,"B=",B,"C=",C
:DelVar M
:Stop
:Lbl 2
:Input "a=",X
:Input "b=",Y
:Input "C=",C
:√(X2+Y2-2XYcos(C))→Z
:1.35481→M
:Goto M
:Lbl E
:Disp "c=",Z,"A=",A,"B=",B
:DelVar M
:Stop
:Lbl I
:Disp "Program created","by:","Sporlo"
:Pause
:Disp "Calc vars used:","Angle A is A","Angle B is B","Angle C is C","Side a is X","Side b is Y","Side c is Z"
:Pause
:Disp "Until the","program is used","again, all","values stay","saved in those","variables when","you're done."
:Pause
:Goto 0
Hmmmm... that doesn't look too long. Well just keep in mind I was making this with a TI-83+ so yeah...
Also, even though the Help/Info section (Label I) is less than a third of the program, it probably took about half the time. Displaying text on that calculator is the very definition of tedious. It's so slow to type everything in, adding all the quotes and commas and remembering where all the letters are.
If you're wondering about why the heck I store 1.35481 to M, well I did it because I needed a random variable to be used while starting at Label 2 [at this I go to bed and resume writing this the next day] because since this is a law of cosines program, I just decided to keep using it, instead of law of sines, which could have been used at that point. (I decided to have the program totally solve the triangle instead of just solving one value, because that way you don't have to like choose what value you want to find, you just enter in the 3 things you know, and it gives back the 3 things you don't know. And then I used that strange number for M in case you had some different number in that letter before, like 2.25, and this way I didn't have to delete M at the beginning of the program, and it still runs smoothly.
Ok, enough about the program.
Unfortunately for me, most of the math problems were law of sines, so I only used my program like twice. On to science. Wow, chemical formulas are SO confusing! So much work just to name the compounds, and to get the formula from the name. All this covalent bonding and ionic bonding and polyatomic ions, and ionic compounds. Not fun. I get it all, but it's like just barely. My crazy science teacher calls the method of switching two elements' oxidation numbers and making them subscript "Criss-cross Applesauce." She really is crazy. Fortunately she's a pretty good teacher.
Next we had Connections, and guess who came... MRS. SHARP!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!! EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!! I CAN HEAR HER COMING!!!!!!!!!!
Yeah. That's who she is. She's works with our district as some sort of counselor, no like a... I'm not sure what her job title is. Anyways she's attempting to get us to work on a PPT project on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. So far, we've learned nothing. She treats us like we're 2, and she is like... primitive. One day a website wasn't working that we were trying to project through the projector, and she asked "Will [the website] work on the TV?" Ugh, too much. I got to change the subject.
I got home. It sucked 'cause my mom refused to let me play Guitar Hero III. So I just used the computer and iPod touch and just hung out for a while. Parents and brother ate out, and my sister and I stayed home. When my parents came back they decided to go to a movie (I never did find out which one) so I played GH3 for exactly and hour (according to the Wii) and then started typing this. And then I got a very good night's sleep.
Well, got to work on homework now. I'm hoping to read my book and write the report by Sunday because my dad said I couldn't go to a sleepover on Sunday night unless I finished the book report, even though it's due on Friday (yesterday my teacher switched the date from Wednesday to Friday). So now I agree with our agreement even less. And then I have a math worksheet and I have to do some vocab work. Oh, haha, and also practice Viola, S+E is next Saturday [gasp]!
EDIT: dang, the square root symbol and the "store" symbol (and arrow pointing right) didn't show up in the code, and the "to the second power" symbol didn't become superscript either. Oh well.
EDIT EDIT: I'll just take the program out of the [*code][*/code] things.
EDIT EDIT EDIT: lol when I wrote ":Disp" in the code it created smilies so I disabled them. And luckily the two symbols as well as the superscript showed up this time!
