Ok, the poll I included is just a random wondering. It has nothing to do with August 1st whatsoever . For me, I've spent some money on a bunch of games, but as for other non-game software I don't think I've spent any. Mostly because my dad doesn't let me.
August 1st:
The morning was pretty slow. I woke up, sat around. I watched a bit of TV, ate breakfast. yea... At 11 or so my mom and bro left to go to the grocery store, and since my sister was using the comp, I decided to play with my brand new TI-83+ ( I had one that was 2 years old, but then my sister also needed one, so she let me have the new one while she used my old one).
-A Blast to the Past-
For math, I love to program all the hard-to-remember formulas into my calculator (it doesn't make me any smarter , but so what? ) so I can easily do the problems without even thinking. Anyways, throughout seventh grade, I worked on a program called RANDGAME (note that the only resources I had were the in-calculator code stuff things). So basically the whole program was an if-then/goto-label program. Eitherways, when I finished the game, I was pretty proud of myself. My friends couldn't do any better . They thought my very primitive game was like... amazing . The basic gameplay is that it prompts you to enter a number 1 or 0 (all other values are invalid and you lose .1 points). The game creates a random # between 1 and 0, and if you guess 1, you guess the # will be greater than .5, and if you guess 0, you guess the # will be less than .5. If you guess correctly, you receive 1 point, and if you guess incorrectly, you lose a random number of points in between 0 and 1. The goal of the game is to get ≥10 points in the shortest amount of tries as possible. I had the program keep your record by taking a variable and storing your record to that and archiving/unarchiving it everytime you play. Like I said, I was very proud of my work. It took so long to make that game and it's sooooo hard to use the calculator's program editor. I can describe it with only one word: TEDIOUS
-A Blast Back to the Present?-
So, that morning I decided to mess around with my calculator. I started playing RANDGAME and got bored of it. My record is 19 tries, and I calculated the theoretical average at 40 tries. So, I then decided to redesign RANDGAME. Instead of trying to get to 10 points, you try to see how many points you can get in 10 tries. That took me about 2 hours to redesign (there was a lot of messing around and testing and doing other stuff). My record for that game was 8.3xxxxxxxx (10 being the best possible) and I calculated the theoretical average at 2.5 points. After that, I decided to make a game in which you can choose how many tries you want to go to, and see how many points you can get in that many tries. The program would then remember how many tries TOTAL you've ever played, as well as the TOTAL # of points earned throughout your play history. It would then calculate your percent (points/tries) as a kind of overall rating. And then your points and tries would accumulate forever. (until u wanted to reset it). I calculated the theoretical average at 25%. Normally, the point to try percent would be 50%, but since you LOSE .5 points if you get it wrong, it brings down the average to 25%.
The game I JUST described I hadn't even started, I just copied the other program as a template and I was gonna work on it later. So, for 3 hours I made the "10 Tries" game, and then MADE BETTER both existing games (the 10 Tries AND the 10 Points game). THEN, I had this app called MirageOS on my calculator. It's used to play games. (I only had 4 games). But there are a lot of customizable things in Mirage. So for the last half-hour I messed around and I actually discovered a lot of features I never knew were there. Finally, I pressed 2nd then some other button that I don't remember (was it Mode?). All of a sudden two games disappeared. HUH?!?! That was a surprise... it wasn't that bad tho cuz the games weren't that fun anyways, and I could just get them back from some friends who had them. But THEN, when I EXITED Mirage...
The calculator says:
RAM Cleared
And then I'm like........... then.............................................then................
then
then
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm like WTF was that for?!?!?!?!?!?! I didn't do anything but press 2 buttons that had NOTHING to do with memory or deleting!!!!! I remember this exact scenario happening to some of my friends tho. But still. I WAS SOOOOOOO ANGRY!!!! I SPENT LITERALLY 3 AND A HALF HOURS WORKING ON MY CALCULATOR AND ALL OF THAT WORK WAS GONE IN A SECOND!!!! I was so made I just decided to delete all my games as well as Mirage OS. I also had another game playing app called "Puzzle Pack" and I deleted that as well. Thus all my records (and I had REALLY good records. I had the best scores for EVERY SINGLE GAME among my friends!) were gone. After my RAM was deleted, (archived items were safe) I was like screw the calculator, I'm getting rid of everything So I even deleted my formula programs (that Quadratic formula one was REALLY helpful).
I was REALLY bummed after that. I wasted so much time. I even FORGOT TO EAT LUNCH while I was doing that!
After that ordeal, I found the computer open so I spent some time on it for the rest of the time till about 5, when my dad called and said "c'mon, we're (me, sister, dad) gonna go to the pool whether u like it or not." (my mom and bro had left for the pool some hours ago and were still there, so we were gonna join em for about 1 more hour). So us three went to the pool. It was pretty fun. I just jumped off the diving boards a few times and went back to sit down and eat some crackers . After the pool, we brought Noodles (the restaurant) home for dinner. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that my dad had bought a new camera when he was at work! WOOHOOO!!! It actually has sound in its videos!
Ah darn, I just forgot what I did after dinner (btw, I bought Mario Party 8 for Wii the day before )
