Among the many new features available in PlatinumQuest, the Ice Shard stands as a cold-hearted hazard, ready to freeze any marbles that dare to touch it. The Ice Shard chills the air around it. Created by: MadMarioSkills, CyberFox and Seizure22 The Ice Shard is a simple yet effective hazard. Upon touching it, the marble will instantly be frozen, halted in its movement. While the marble stays frozen, the player can do nothing for a short while until the ice shatters, allowing control to be regained. Curiosity froze the marble. The Ice Shard is great to use in your snowy levels, unless you're as cold as the Ice Shard and wish to use it anywhere. Keep on freezin', The Platinum Team

Very interesting idea. I Dont realy have much ideas where to put it in level as hazard but it looks kinda cool. Actualy if you think about it can be helpfull in plces where you must land on wery tight spot from huge height.

IDK I don't see much use for it, peppering your levels with it is the obvious one, but that is boring and will get old fast. Also stopping yourself when moving rapidly. And that's about it. Well it looks good at least!

I see it still freezes you if you hit the bottom part. That's the only thing I don't like.
Keep it up!

Actually I think it would look better without the "base", with the ice coming right outta the ground...

This makes so much sense that I can't believe we haven't seen a hazard like this before. (Perhaps the coding was tricky...?) WHOA! Awesome!! I will DEFIANTLY play PlatinumQuest! Good job!!! That's right! Be defiant! Defy the world that wants to stop you! Don't let anything get in your way!

I personally don't think this will be used as much as the cannon for example in the levels, because there are not really a lot of things you could do with it. But, PQ will definitely be better off with it. Keep up the good work.

I can think of a few things to do with the ice shard in a number of levels; for those who think it will only be spammed, it should be for a good reason. My usage will be minimal unless for a very good reason. That means no spam like you've seen in the trailer (which is a demo level btw, not a real one). I have quite a few innovative ideas for those, so... Thanks for the comments guys

Woah! That was amazing! The modeling is spectcular, and it really seems like a great idea . keep it up! Also, kwill, it could be used when you are going fullspeed, and you need to stop quickly, this could really come in handy. It's almost like a shock absorber in a way. With everything else, I agree with you. Again, PQ is looking amazing!

I think it should break at higher speeds, like if you're going at full speed and need to stop, you hit the shard, it stops you but breaks as well. Could respawn afterwards, or not. Just an idea.
I see a locked power-up indicator there... what could that be... maybe we simply can't pick any power-up before a special "unlocker" power-up? Maybe we can pick them up but not use it? Or maybe it simply means that there are no power-ups in the level? The first picture seems to show one of those "race" levels, where you (I guess!) need to do a set number of laps as quickly as possible. It looks like an effective race since there is that floor which looks like ice and you could easily slip while speedrunning.
As always, I'm going to finish this post without taking it to its end and leave you draw the conclusions...

I see a locked power-up indicator there... what could that be... I can tell you exactly what it is. While you are frozen you can't do anything, including use powerups, so while you are frozen there is a lock icon there... (It's obvious, since the lock icon is only there when the marble is frozen...) maybe we simply can't pick any power-up before a special "unlocker" power-up? That's actually not a bad idea...

That's a good idea. Would integrate well with the speedometer and be a nice feature in laps levels because you would be able to navigate subsequent laps quicker if the ice shard hazards have been knocked out of the path.

Anyone else thinking of making a level where you have to shoot the marble out of a cannon at an ice shard?
EDIT: I also see that you can't use powerups when frozen.
