<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>ShoutBox Updates for January 6th, 2010;- Usernames with different colors will now display those respective colors in the shoutbox. (ex. my username Aayrl will be colored blue in the shoutbox, just like the rest of the forums.) - A Profanity Filter has been added for words that may appear as vulgar to parents of younger users as to prevent driving new members / guests away from the forums. - Added an Anchor to the chatbox, so you can click a link and automatically be scrolled to the chatbox. For example, CLICK THIS.[.url]

ShoutBox Updates for January 8th, 2010;
- After much consideration between myself and IsraeliRedDragon, as well as many alternate coding techniques, we have removed the profanity filter from the ShoutBox. However, the Forum Rules have not changed, and excessive use of vulgar language will result in a warning level increase, just like it would normally on the forums.
- The ShoutBox now displays the 15 most recent messages, up from 9.

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments with regards to the ShoutBox, please post a response to this thread.
The above log is the complete change of updates since the upgrade to the Premium Shoutbox in early January 2010.

I am strongly against this idea, for a couple reasons. First, guests cannot even SEE the shoutbox, so this isn't an issue. Second, it's a slippery slope where to stop censoring, as in what words need be censored, and what words are "ok". Obviously, some people have different standards (think the discussion between me and Rokoshu in the BlazerYo has been Banned thread about dick/fag), so it wouldn't make sense to censor words based on, only, what you find appropriate. Also, what you mentioned about parents...the limit for age is 13. Most 13-year-olds wouldn't even TELL their parents that they signed up...let alone have their parents be afraid of a forum because of the occasional swear word. Personaly, I have never told my parents as they hate me on the forums at all. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am strongly agaoninst the profanity filtir (I only did that as a test) because it increases the level by 1337% Remove nao. That filter. Make a button that turns off.

Good decision to remove the filter. The staff can moderate the ShoutBox just like we moderate the rest of the forums.
