funny cuz last time we all checked, Marble Blast itself had been owned by IAC. And it still is.
Once again, for the Nth time why are we still questioning this.

I'm not questioning it, really we've moved from questioning it to discussing it now. Anyways... "BTW, the company who made it doesn't exist anymore, meaning we have all our rights to distribute it." InstantAction was a company? Sure... It seems as if some people don't know that GG and IAC made IA (I might be wrong with the IAC part, I really haven't played MBO since it went down.

Sorry if this is spam but why continue this thread? This has just been going in a loop.

Because I didn't request a lock...? And why should I. This is a case in what we have an infinite loop. Basically, if I were to code this thread into 1.50, it would be as follows: while (true) { jeff informs people that this is illegal; the same people continue to say its illegal; the same people on the other side say its legal; } sounds like American politics now, doesn't it.

Actually, I'm curious as to what the punishments for owning and/or distributing MBU specifically are. I don't think anyone has gotten in trouble for it yet, though I could be wrong.
Would penalties go to the forum published it was posted on, or directly to the people who posted it? Also, how do they inflict those punishments? Most of these accounts on the forums aren't clearly connected to anyone IRL, though they could backtrack I guess.

The IP is then located and boom, we have a winner.

IPs really aren't that private. Any time that you've, say, edited a wiki without being logged in, the ip is publicly recorded. And the NSA are spying on you.

Penalties for being caught? Probably none. There are few enough people using it that I very seriously doubt IAC would waste the time, money, and effort trying to prosecute them. Hell even if there were a lot more people using it, it's not like IAC is losing money from this piracy. Just to reiterate my position, so what if it's illegal. The only reason I am talking about it is that the ignorance bothers me.

Even if IAC is not losing any money from said distribution, the law still holds effect, and it is not impossible that there may be penalties of some form involved if it becomes well-noticed.
