Hello everyone. I'm making a marble blast mod! This mod is called Marble Blast X. Now this time I have ideas texture ideas and even sound IDEAS that are in a notebook full of awesome stuff. Anyways I will tell everyone something's just so you can get a feel of what this mod will be like. One Friction to show Death Friction-When rolled on causes marble to blow up(not sure how difficult to code would be) Texture-Light blue while looking very detailed like a MBG type texture but very detailed (Doesn't look like a MBG texture just hard to explain) Beginning of every level has new start system Red Yellow Green with little beep noises getting loud Oh and I'm planning for about 70 levels total with skill levels Normal Hard And Pro (First 1-2 levels are noobish in case there are any MB newbs.) So anyways if there is anyone not working on a mod right now (unlikely) I would love to have you help me make Marble Blast X! EXTRA!!!- I DO NOT WANT A KAJILLION STUPIDLY HARD TIGHTROPE LEVELS!!! Well anyways hope you have a good day and look forward to peoples support!

Not to be mean, but why not ask to join someone else's mod instead? It would save a lot of time and effort, and increases the likelihood that your work will be released, as opposed to having incomplete scraps of files and code, in case it were to come to that.

I know I could just join someone else's mod but I don't know I just really want to work on this mod and am really looking forward to this mod in the future and now. But yeah I don't want this mod dying so I'll try to make sure my ideas in the mod won't be to difficult code or make because I've seen some mods failing for that reason. Anyways thanks I'll really try to make sure that won't happen

Wouldn't death friction be like a nuke with scale (X X 0.01) on a tile or something? If you actually want the thing exploding, then...

Yeah it literally explodes and it makes an explosion sound and all you can see is those yellow sparks as seen when you go fast in MB

I have gotten what the main type of idea for this mod will be. OK this mod all the textures are based around light blue and/or very detailed like it. Anyways that's just a small update and anyways good night! (Its around 9 pm where I live)

That actually IS impossible to do. You can't just blow up shapes in marble blast.

You could do the explosion from a mine, freeze velocity, and trigger OOB though.

I would suggest finishing Marble Blast Spark first before launching into another mod. It's odd that you announced the discontinuation of that mod and then announced the start of this mod just a couple days later.

Yes I do realize that I just announce the ending of a mod a few days ago but I just felt like telling the community a new mod I'm planning on.

I haven't replied to this topic and honestly haven't felt the need to until I saw Andrew's post and your reply to it. Also don't double post please, use the edit button instead. I'll be blunt. I am actually thinking about locking this topic too and probably will tomorrow after you post, and if you don't post, well I'll lock anyway. In all honesty you've not been able to do one mod successfully. You sat around with it, played with it a little and probably thought up a grand idea, then realised that it was too hard, or you were not able to accomplish what you set to do, or you were out of ideas really fast, or perhaps you had no time to work on it at all that you lost all interest and decided to mercy kill it. And this was only 4 months ago. Oh, and in case you already forgot: marbleblast.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=mbmodothers&thread=13566&post=172247That's me giving you a giant essay I don't want to repeat right now. Why do you think this will not be the same? You lack the knowledge, skills and experience of programming with TorqueScript. You haven't shown the community levels you created. You haven't really done anything. I have a better idea. Why don't you join Marble Blast Super? They have Multiplayer, and they would probably be happy to have another person on the mod. You can create levels and make textures for them and in return you get multiplayer, to which you can develop for. Maybe they will pick up on ideas that you have, and then you end up with a better mod (if it works out). They have their own forums too! mbsuper.proboards.comIt would be better if all those individual people with all the grand mod ideas actually went and worked together on one mod that they all agreed on instead of making 100 separate mods, all doomed within 2 weeks because they lost interest and no one joins them. By joining a current mod you don't need to have other people joining your mod since you are already in one that has the same ideas as you, more progress than yours will ever get and more likely to actually release in some way or format.

I'll think about it. But if I join marble blast super I'm still not necessarily leaving this mod DEAD but I'll come back to it and make it better IF that does happen

I find the fact that you aren't willing to give up your "mod", because of your belief that you would be following suit of other mods, is misled, and not going to change anything. If you were to join another mod, you could make a build of some feature yourself and then offer it to said modders, and they would most likely be happy to accept it. Not leaving it "dead" shows stubbornness and lack of acceptance, which one should be willing to make for the reason that not all things will work out, even the mods themselves. It makes for being open-minded, and thus, new ideas may still emerge. Acceptance to failure is important for continuing on to success. Else, you may find yourself inept and thus have incomplete and/or poor quality work. People aren't exactly itching for new mods, rather, they are wanting new features that satisfy their desire for something else, new and unique, and much anticipated by the community. Try focusing on what others would want, rather than what you want to accomplish. Else, that mod would not be entertaining to the community, only focused on yourself. If others don't see any hope or promise in a mod, they would not take interest or caution them otherwise. If their disinterests were not so, they wouldn't be here now in this topic or otherwise trying to make persuasive arguments to deter, suggest, or else of the sort, instead, they would try to make kind suggestions and encourage the modification, want to join in on the project, and try to help in any way possible. Some of the issues here may be ability, but the person himself may also be part of the limiting factor. If a mod doesn't have the right kind of goal, purpose, or leadership, it won't be a very good mod.
Excuse me for the sloppiness, I might tidy that up later.

I wouldn't call a mod dead if it has not properly been started yet.

Well Im actually not dropping the mod. I have gotten all the mode names (Normal Hard And Pro) and I've gotten the complete design of some like 10 levels? Yeah I've been mostly focused on textures right now. Also who I got working so far on my mod: My Cousin- Basic Script Man supermarbleblater- Level Creator and more And Me- Planner, little script writer and texture maker I should have the first few textures to show to you guys in a few days to show a little feel for this mod. Good Day!

How many mods you plan to make....? Eather way thinking ideas is easiest part, making those ideas into life the whole different thing so make sure all ideas you have can be executed in real life. Good luck!

So often in these threads you see the "creators" say, "but I am planning it out. I already have planned the level difficulty names and everything! I even have a couple of levels" I can come up with synonyms to the words easy medium and hard too, maybe I should make a mod....

Not like I need a different set for each 25 pack...

probably the greatest mod ever.
On a serious note I'd be surprised if I ever saw anything from this.

I think a better idea would have been to finish thinking up the mod (it seems like you have, though I'm not sure), get some actual progress on it, and THEN show it to the world.
Getting people to believe your mod, which at the moment is just some collection of ideas you have, is much easier once you've shown that it has progressed and is being give time and effort from you and your staff. Right now you have nothing to show us and you're just talking about ideas and possibilities, which most people will take with a grain of salt.
Figure out, amongst your staff, exactly what you are going to do, how those ideas will be executed, and how you divide up the work as well as find time to put effort into the mod as a whole. If you cannot do that, then actually making a mod will very likely not work, as has happened many times in the past.
I also urge you to look through the threads of the dead mods in this board, as well as the ones in the vault, and see if you can figure out what went wrong with them. You'll also probably see where most of us are coming from.
