I've decided to write an introduction to my blog - since many people don't know who I am, or what I've been a part of in the past, and I'd like to update my profile with what I currently am interested in. A lot has changed over the past year and half and although I don't have any plans in Marble Blast, I know that you are all interested in different things, and I'm hoping you'll enjoy what I have to share with you!
My History as a Marble Blaster
The Past
I don't consider my positive actions in the past to be that great. I was an early member of the forums, relative to the average today. I was most likely 12 when I first joined, and now I'm turning 17 in a few days. Time flies and it's no wonder that I don't remember much of what I've done. The details are fuzzy on so many things, that I really don't have much to say about them! Marble Blast TV and Marble Blast Live! were my first two projects that I really enjoyed and actually got some attention. I was inactive for a while after that period, and I did come back to see that several members had held live-streams. I started a mini-trend that did stop shortly after that time, but it was my first impact on the community.
Marble Blast Emerald was a fun project to work on. It of course had it's ups and downs in moderation, but eventually we got it done - more than 3 years in the making. It didn't release anything groundbreaking, but it was clean, the graphics were decent, and we learned a heck of a lot doing it. After MBE, we also wanted to finish up Marble Blast Opal and get it out there. I created the GUI for that, and it's one of my best graphics works (I've since stopped working with graphics.), and I did a few levels, as well as worked with Jeff on getting it out ASAP. We didn't want the work to go to waste. After the two projects were complete, I wanted to focus on creating something big. I knew Jeff and HiGuy were getting better at coding, and we thought there might be a possibility for Multiplayer to be finally put in the game. I put together scattered ideas, planned for a good while, and created the MBE2 project. However, only shortly after starting the project, Higuy and Jeff left because they didn't feel like they were being allowed to make their own coding decisions. We had conflicting reasons for being in the project, and seeing my dream ship fall, I reacted badly - making my most controversial and anger-inducing post. That post is my one true regret, I certainly wish that I had kept MBE2 together, but seeing them working now on their projects, a part of me is glad it didn't work out. I didn't want to go out with such a violent bang, but what was done was done and I saw no reason to stay now that I couldn't work on my project. I have recently read the post I made, and regret everything I said. I disagree now with many of my points. I tried to shift blame from myself, when it was a 3-way blame that should have been shared. I think that we all knew the project wouldn't work out, and I just was too short-sighted to see it go without a badly-fought fight. So here is a formal apology for my actions in the MBE2 incident.
My conscience is generally clear now, I know that Jeff and HiGuy have no grudges against me, and I have finally convinced Andrew that I am not the devil. I really do like the community, regardless of what I've said in the past. I know it's going to die eventually, and I don't want to regret not being here when it does.
Today[/b]
I was on Skype with Jeff just a few days ago, and I am talking to him as I write this post. He brought me back to the forums. He tried several times to get me to post, and he finally baited me into being interested in Hangman. It all tumbled from there.
I am here now, not as a Marble Blaster, but as a member of the community. I don't play Marble Blast anymore, and only when Multiplayer is released will I have a desire to play it again. I enjoy talking to people I haven't talked to for a very long time, however, and I am getting more and more into coding. I will post about my current coding project another time, I really want to talk about it! My main game, now, is League of Legends. If you haven't heard of it, it is a 5v5 real-time team strategy game. I run Team Synthetic, which recently had a team split up, so at the moment, we're pretty inactive. I now stream regularly at www.twitch.tv/valentinoian and I will most likely stream Multiplayer when it comes out. (I'm so excited to see how they've been doing with the code!)
The Future for Me
I am planning to go to either Stanford, Carnegie Mellon, or Penn State for Computer Science after I graduate high-school in Spring 2014 - and I plan on possibly even double-majoring in game design or graphic design.
I am still very much in love with music - I don't compose as much anymore, but I do play the Alto Saxophone and the Ocarina. I am in the Musical now for my high-school, it's "Guys and Dolls," and I don't have any major part but it is still very rewarding to be a part of. I may be releasing an unofficial album soon with songs I have sung, songs that I have played on Alto Saxophone, songs I have composed, and even some Ocarina. However, that requires planning and it even more-so requires me to use my friend's studio...
I have a lot of social issues that I would love to rant about right now, but I think they are topics for another post. They will be controversial, as I tend to be, but they won't have any relevance to the community, just my social life.
I really do want to thank Jeff and Andrew for being so supportive of me coming back, as well as others. I hope I'm here to stay, 'till death do us part.
