2008 Predictions :: Right or Wrong?

2008 predictions are now open for us to check.. discuss here only whether your own predictions (or other people's) were right or wrong.

I'd start out: nobody got the number of forum members correct, our highest guess was somewhere in the 850-900 I think.

PF nearly nailed the forum stats: Total Topics: 5,616 - Total Posts: 93,379
He said ~6k and 90k-100k

Imperial left the forums (and MB) so kinda his predictions failed. However, he was nearly right about LotM (now LotBM), Moshe did come back for Camp 2 (we want #3 ) . Only MBP is released from all mods out there..

from my own:

- Andrew Sears will shut the fuck up when arguments are arising. This is your second chance.

Did not

- More quizzes will happen with the new prizes. Doubt it, but w/e.

Didn't happen... unless thats the Hangman, which was about right in that case.

- Will quit the forums and Marble Blast in order to concentrate on other things. Second chance.

Didn't happen. Fuck that.

- Finish successfully 3nd year @ university, which means getting my bachelor degree. better be

- Marblefire will become a Council Member.Hopefully...

- Aayrl might stay, but not a lot of active, like now. Phil will get less active but won't leave.

- Technostick will, for once, like what I am doing and will not complain. Let's see if it works again.

It happened

- I'll rent a Mac and try it out for a week. I won't like it.

Didn't happen.

- IAv2 will come out, MBO will get updated.

WTF, nope.

- Windows 7 will come out. It will be good.

I was wrong. It's amazing.

- Parents will stay in Australia and won't have to go back (i.e.: visa is renewed).

Happened.

- I will get a job.

- I will make some new friends.

- I will pass my first two semesters in college and do well on my finals, and will have started my sophomore year.

All true (yay).

- I will regain a spot in the regular Council.

I was in for a two-week period for participating in the caption game, so this sort of came true.

- A member who has not been seen yet will become a Junior Council member.

JC membership has not changed since it's creation. Still waiting on this mysterious stranger to show up.

- I will make two more Doors series packs before discontinuing it.

None more were made after pack 2, and I don't see any coming in the future.

- MBA and MBF will be released and be successful.

MBA is like 99% completed I believe (someone needs to get off his ass and finish it), while MBF is still in production.

- MBR and MBE will be cancelled.

This came true - both mods were (unofficially) cancelled.

- Kurt and Lukie will try to get back on the forums at least once.

Kurt does have an account (thankfully he hardly comes on or posts). Lukie was allowed to rejoin and has become more respected ever since.

- Level of the Month will have been either discontinued or radically modified.

Only modification was to make each competition last two months instead of one.

- I will have made over 20 skyboxes.

True.

- I will have around 4,000 posts, but probably less active.

Way underestimated that one - this will be post no. 4,900 I'm still as active as I was a year ago.

- I will continue making levels, but at slower pace.

College has indeed kept my level production down.

- A current, respected member will do something bad and be suspended or banned.

Thankfully, this did not happen.

- Aayrl, Riblet, Cyberfox, and Brixar will have retired.

Brixar retired, but the other three are still in the community and posting.

- Phil and PF will spend more time on their websites and be less active.

Not so sure about the websites - but Phil is definitely less active. PF still is.

- Matan will be around, but not as often as before. Power will shift to Technostick.

*buzzer* Totally false.

- I will be forced to be away from the forums for an extended length of time, possibly due to some sort of computer failure.

I did have a gfx card problem that forced me to send in my MacBook Pro for repair. I was able to use one of my family's older (and crappier) laptops while it was away, however.

- The Pats will reach the playoffs, but lose in the first round.

Well they didn't even reach the playoffs last season.

- Matan will realize Macs are better and buy one.

About my predictions: 300 less posts than I thought (less active), pretty much correct about low 3's ppd count, spot on about MBA, wrong about MBF, true about MBR, wrong about levels, so-so about PF.com, dunno about MBP, WAY fucking off about forum members. Level packs, pretty true..skipping ahead, pretty true about cyberfox and right about leaf, very correct about spy and ben moving on. Very true about playing customs and MB less. Wrong about height, 5'11" baby.

None of them have been released....

6) Hopefully all my friends will quit Runescape

Pretty sure they did... although i've moved school so who knows

7) I will have 150+ posts

My guesses where all almost wrong...but a few were right.

"I will still be in MB" is correct, but I'm somewhat going away from it coz of new games.

"Moshe will return along with many others such as PANDA" is correct.

"I will have over 200 posts" omfg waaaaaay over it.

"I will turn into a boy once again" i have no clue why i posted that. but yes im a boy so i assume its corrent.

"I will write another one of these next year" what am i doing right now?

"I will have 75 videos" i reach 100 awhile back so yay.

okay here is some i got wrong and feel like posting i failed.

"I will have WR on all levels" not even on 10 lvls i have WRs on MBG.

"I will beat matan in MBO" not even close.

"I will make MBPorno" wtf?!?!

"I will fall in love with someone" & "I will plow that girl" nope.

"I will win LOTM" i havent even released one constructed lvl ffs.

well anyway i pointed out my fails, hopefully the ones i make before new years will be more accurate and they will be correct.

Now for my own predictions!

Descent with Modification should do pretty well too [in LotM]

It did do well in LotM, but failed in LotY.

Council:
-Technostick (only posts about once a week or less)
-Pablo (manages LotM, LotY, level comps, and other competitions, and makes most of the levels among "veteran" level makers)
-PF (doesn't make levels but still helps out with MBP and forum affairs)
-Andrew (daily mod activities)
-Marblefire (does MotD)
-Phil (inactive but still helps with MBP sometimes)

Almost spot-on! Good prediction.

In a year, I hope that people will have learned their lesson and not tried to create too many more mods.

I'm sorry that I was wrong on this.

MBP will get some great new levels, as well as upgrades

I guess so.

A "new" member will rise to power, then be demoted after performing inappropriate actions

While we have many new active members, none have rises and fallen as spectacularly as Tech Geek or Robot-Marble.

The forums will be more popular than ever and be well over 800 members! We will have about twice as many active members as now, making an average of 20 levels per month.

We have way more members than this!!
