Riddle 2
A bit harder, but still easy.
Easy - The Train Journey.
An unknown amount of passengers are riding in a train. At the first station, 1/6th of the passengers get off. At the second, 1/5th of passengers get off. This pattern continues so that the next station 1/4th get off, 1/3, 1/2, and at the last station, all of the passengers get off. Assuming no-one got on during this journey, what is the minimum amount of people on the train when the train set off?

Even if you cut one person into six equal sized pieces they wouldn't be able to get off of the train, so bulinger is WRONG

B. The only way he could know that A didn't do it is because he himself did (or because he knows A and was with him when the window was broken, but that's besides the point...)

Riddle 8 - Solving the Equation
Hard
Finish this equation by using 4 numbers, 3, 4, 7 and 8.
(?-?/?)x?=10
(? = a missing number.)
|
|
|
Post by Don.Gato on May 23, 2011 20:55:06 GMT
what is with the x, is it supposed to be (?-?/?)*x*?, or is it supposed to be (?-?/?)*?
Assuming the second we have...
(3-4/8)*4 = 10
Or in your notation
(3-4/8)x4 = 10
EDIT: Just realized, I think I have to use all 4 numbers, so.....
(3-7/4)*8 = 10
your notation: (3-7/4)x8 = 10

When I showed it too my friend, she had to have it, and promised to pay 10% more!
Overall, what did I gain or lose?

Lol. I was going to post a hint but iCometBlue got it! (ignoring currency obviously, I wouldn't be that mean.)
3000 - 10% = 2700 2700 + 10% = 2970 2970 - 2700 = 270!

Riddle 9 - False Memory
3 People were playing a memory game. There were ten pairs of cards. A said that "I got all ten pairs in a row." B said that "I got nine pairs in a row." C said that "I only got eight pairs in a row." But, Who is the liar?

i think A is lying.,

Post by ktbold12345 on May 25, 2011 19:54:16 GMT
It's B. If he had gotten 9 pairs off the table, then there would only be 1 pair left, and the cards would be identical, so he would've gotten the tenth.
