OK, Matan you are wrong. I could basically remake MB, just so long as I didn't use any assets from MB. So if I wrote all of the code, and created all of the art and sounds and levels and everything else, it would be legal, even if it was basically MB... It is however illegal to decompile MB. Oh really? Because according to the license agreement: Generally, the first three MAY NOT conditions you aren't going to be prosecuted for (for example, research about the DRM US court decisions that allow you to break drm for your personal use) let alone be found out, but that last condition (create derivative works) is not uncommon to be the basis for you getting your behind sued for a lot of money. I stand corrected, it would have to be different enough to qualify for it's own copyright, or else it would be a "derivative work" Unfortunately it is completely unclear how different it would need to be to not be a derivative work.In fact it would be all up to IAC and whether or not they considered it a derivative work. If they wanted to get all legal on you, there isn't much you could do, even if you were right. They have the resources to hire lawyers and all that... Now I am not sure how mods fit into this, I believe that they would be considered derivative works, so IDK. Maybe they are illegal but nobody bothers to go after them because, well, who cares.

Why does there have to be so much legal stuff (I really want to say a worse word instead of stuff) in the world?

Because otherwise people could steal your idea and get more money.

True, or they could claim you stole it from them. I guess there is a good reason for most of the stuff in the world.

None of this would happen if MB was open source...
Sure, then GG/IAC wouldn't get any money at all... but hey, it's their problem.

Good news guys! It's been a while since we've had good news, so I'm happy to say this. The Marble Blast Elite Demo is almost here! We are hoping to release it sometime within a month or two.
The demo will contain:
•Approximately 30 Levels •2-3 New Features •Unchanged GUI (for now, until we get a GUI graphics maker) •New music and sounds
What we are doing to reach release:
•Re-texturing and adding new scenery to older levels •Fixing small bugs •Organizing levels and taking screenshots
After the demo is complete, the game will be sent to our two testers (Mosquashi and Kostas) to set the Elite Times for each level.
I hope you are all looking foward to the release!

It's actually a reasonable amount. Think of all the levels we made in such a short time! We have plans to have around 150 levels for release, but it may change. This amount does include levels for game modes. Nihahhat has been making lots of levels lately so, erm, we are getting there...

He's saying that you probably shouldn't show 30 levels in the demo, because that is a bit much. You took it the opposite way.

I'm just saying that we are going to have lots of levels, so 30 isn't much compared to 150. If we had only 80 levels, then 30 would be too much. We'll remove 10 levels from the demo if you really want.

It was just a note. Plus, I suggest that 150 is much to high of a goal for a first release. I don't know how much creativity and originality you'll get from 150 levels.

Nihahhat actually listed ~130 REGULAR GAMEPLAY levels on his iPod. I think almost all of them are either planned on paper or planned mentally. 130 levels+10 Hunt levels+10 ***** Mode levels=around 150 levels. I've seen the list and it's pretty impessive. Most of the levels are creative.
Trust me, 150 isn't that bad of a goal. We're halfway there, and it's only been 3-4 months of real progress.

And THAT is impressive! You know, how Nihahhat can make so many levels in such a short time... I actually don't think 150 is too much... Infact I'd rather prefer a mod with more levels. It's really good that Nihahhat has planned every level on paper... Like the aesthetics and everything? I only work on MSWord . Sometimes grid paper if I feel like it. Nonetheless, I'm quite excited!
